Entries are now invited for the first annual Signifyinguyana Short Story Competition.
In a small effort to recognize and encourage new and not so new writers in Guyana, and to give them confidence to pursue writing as a career, this competition is only open to Guyanese writers living in Guyana.
Rules and Regulations
1. There is no age limit, and entries can come from either amateur or professional writers.
2. All entries must clearly state the country of citizenship, name, home address, and e-mail address of the writer. All personal information will remain private until further consultation with the writer.
3. Entrants may send up to three (3) stories.
4. The stories must be original and should not have been previously published anywhere in full or part. Entrants must confirm this in writing with their submissions.
5. All entries must be in English.
6. Each entry must be typed, double-spaced, and include the word count.
7. I reserve the right to disqualify any entry. No correspondence will be entered into in this regard.
8. All entries will be acknowledged upon receipt, but only winners will be notified.
9. All entries must be e-mailed to signifyinguyana[at]gmail.com
10. "Short Story Competition" should be clearly written on the subject line of emails.
Prizes
1st Prize: US$550 and publication (TBA)
2nd Prize: US$325 and publication (TBA)
3rd Prize: US$125 and publication (TBA)
Entries will be accepted until April 15, 2009, and winners will be announced in May 2009.
