Three years into this blog thing and I still love it. Still get excited about it... about reading, writing, and suicidal risk-taking. So god willing, expect more of it this year.
For starters, I'll be moving to a new space soon, and I'll be adding a few related bells and whistles to what I've been doing here (more on that later). But the core won't change. It will still remain a book blog, and I'll still be the one who signifies....
And like every year I've been doing this so far, I expect good and bad surprises, I expect to be derailed from whatever course I set and plans I announce, and I expect to continue to set course and announce plans nevertheless. Sometimes I think this blog is the poster child for pop culture's "it's complicated." If that makes me hip...hippy--stoned radical, not fat--I'll take it. I adore stoned radicals...those who are still capable of making sense anyway. As for me, I never smoked pot, but I was close enough to it to be influenced. Pot-scents I believe it's called.
Blame my poor attempt at humor on one of my current reads: Howard Jacobson's The Finkler Question, Man Booker Prize winner (2010). Jacobson, unlike me, is a master wit, and Finkler Question is hilarious. I'm also reading Andrea Levy's The Long Song, which was shortlisted for the same prize. Why the two together? Ah! Just wait and see. A post on the two works will be (officially) my first book post for the year.
Meanwhile, here's hoping you have a great year, full of dreams and the hard work it takes to turn those dreams into realities.
Hip-hip!
