Send me your words of aesthetic beauty and of evergreen substance on our dear Guyana, and I will lovingly, gently edit and publish them.
And with that statement, I announce Signifyinguyana's second writing competition. This second competition is different from the first one in several respects. I have (hopefully) made it more accommodating for those who felt excluded or minimized by the previous one.
Key features to note:
--I am seeking 5-10 original fiction and non-fiction pieces for publication in an online journal, which I will say more about in a few weeks.
--The authors of the 5-10 pieces selected for publication (from amongst the many I hope to get) will be compensated monetarily as well. (To be announced later).
--The competition is open to anyone anywhere who can fulfill the broad theme requirements noted in my opening statement.
--There are, once again, no restrictions on the length of your story or non-fiction piece. My only limitation is that an individual can submit a grand total of three pieces of his or her writing. No more please.
--The competition will run for four months--February 1st through June 1st (2010)--and the winners will be announced in July (2010).
(Update: The deadline for submissions has been extended. A new deadline will be announced some time in August 2010).
--The format for submission is basic and standard: Your entries should be double-spaced, written in Times New Roman font, the first line of each new paragraph should be indented, and your name and contact information must be provided on the first page.
--This is the first of several posts on the competition, so feel free to ask questions in the comments, or by email (signifyinguyana[at]gmail[dot]com). I'll post all pertinent information / updates in the right sidebar. Check regularly.
Write on!
