As the tributes for Janet Jagan get more and more superfluous--history would describe her as the greatest woman who has ever walked the soil of Guyana!!!--this Stabroek News piece on Jagdeo's attempts to control the media seems a rather apt way to put the portrayal of a prominent political figure in Guyana in perspective.
And from this end, The New York Times describes Janet Jagan as a Chicago native who led Guyana, and recalls the role of the US in Guyana's politics during the 1950s and 1960s, one of Jagan's notable periods of activism in Guyana.
